They are timeless.
There's something about a train station that never feels like it exists in one single point in time. It’s a backdrop that feels just as beautiful today as it did decades ago.
They tell a story.
Train stations naturally tell a story. They're places of departure, arrival, adventure, and connection. For couples, that symbolism feels especially fitting on a wedding day. A day that marks both an endifng and a beginning.
I spent my early adult years in Chicago, and the trains were at the heart of my story there. They carried me to work, to school, to new neighborhoods, to late-night conversations with friends, and countless moments that shaped who I became. Some of my favorite memories from that chapter of life happened on platforms, in stations, and looking out train windows as the city moved around me.
they bring movement.
I love the movement they can’t help but bring into photographs. Train stations create images that feel alive. There's an energy, a sense of anticipation, and a touch of nostalgia that can't be replicated elsewhere.
When it makes sense for the timeline and location, I'll almost always recommend carving out 30 minutes or even an hour for portraits at a train station. The result is a gallery that feels cinematic, romantic, and effortlessly timeless.
Some of my favorite wedding moments have happened between train departures and on quiet platforms, proof that sometimes the journey makes just as beautiful a backdrop as the destination.
Because at its core, marriage is the story of two people choosing to build a life together. And there may be no place that symbolizes that quite like a train station. ✨
